Jade Dewi Tyas Tunggal is from Angourie, NSW Australia. Since a small child she has been dancing and traveling. Her formal training began at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts in Sydney; then continued with a three-year scholarship at the New World School of the Arts in Miami USA, where she gained her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours in Dance from the University of Florida. She has recently completed a year scholarship studying at the Indonesia University of the Arts in Yogyakarta, Java. She has lived and worked as an Independent Freelance Dance Artist in Miami, New York City, Seattle, Kao Shung, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Yogyakarta, Ubud, Bandung and Samosir Lake Toba. She has toured in USA, Western Europe, Taiwan, South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

Jade Dewi is inspired by the notion of “what is the Environment?” and investigates what surrounds us and is external to our body space. The results lead to the telling of stories through dance and song that attempt to explain new perspectives on how the external effects the internal environments. She is guided by her interest in creating interdisciplinary Live Art Happenings that value the process of cross-cultural exchange and employ collaboration, negotiation and consensus as important factors in effective group decision-making. Her focus on sustainable development and community education as economic exchange, may establish a context that celebrates a wide range of ideologies with holistic and spectacular aesthetics.

November 6th 2004 saw Jade premiere a dance performance choreographed specifically for the "Byron Still Loves Bali" annual fundraising extravaganza in Byron Bay. This magical evening, presented by AIAA brought together musicians, dancers and performers from across Australia and Indonesia. Jade was joined on stage by Efen Jaenudin and Tim Shanasy, combining to form a luxurious and sensuous blend of flute, piano and movement that captivated the audience.
