Portret-Portret Cinta - Portraits of Love
In February 2005, the Australia Indonesia Arts Alliance presented ‘Expressions of Love - between Australia and Indonesia’, an exquisite exhibition of paintings, photographs, sculptures and other mixed media. Artists were invited to explore the friendships that our two countries have forged and cultivated over history.
On 11 June 2005 AIAA launched the photographic exhibition “Portraits of Love “ at Byron Bay Community Centre as part of the Opening Ceremony for the Inspirasi Indonesian Arts Festival. In essence this photographic body of work, ‘Portraits of Love’, continues to delve into the relationships of two close neighbouring nations. Four photographers photographed 45 children of Australian and Indonesian parents both in the Byron Shire and in Ubud, Bali. This exhibition will potentially tour to Bali as a part of a cultural exchange project between these towns.
‘Portraits of Love’ is a celebration of a small thread of multicultural family life as well as a record of the cultural, creative and community ties between Australia and Indonesia.
