The 2025 NEMBC Conference successfully brought together multicultural broadcasters for two days of professional development and networking at Melbourne’s Crowne Plaza. The event featured practical workshops on grant writing and podcast production, insightful panels about women in media, and thought-provoking discussions about cultural diversity in modern broadcasting. A highlight was John Galzari’s powerful testimony about how ethnic media supports refugee integration. Our BayFM team was represented by Fred Ramanzini from Lusofonia, Judy Shelley and Nancy Jo Falcone from Multicultural Nation Radio Show.
Key sessions included:
- Andrea Ho’s keynote on leveraging diversity in evolving media landscapes
- Practical training in multilingual news reporting and media law compliance
- Career development panels featuring industry leaders from SBS and ABC
- CBF’s specialist funding workshop for radio programmers
The event balanced professional development with networking opportunities, including welcome drinks and a Gala Dinner in which outstanding contributors to multicultural broadcasting were awarded. Attendees left equipped with actionable strategies to strengthen their stations.
