PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY:
Ever since I was a child, I have been in love with nature and curious about the mystery of the Universe. I was inspired by flavor, sounds, images and feelings and I developed deep awareness of supernatural and spiritual power. My soul explores the powerful experience of living in a world of cultural juxtapositions in which past, present, future, tradition and contradiction, are interwoven with dreams and consciousness.
A deep reverence for nature illuminates the beauty of an evolving human spirit.
Crisis of ecology, political turmoil, social repression and economic development are affecting each creature as civilization becomes increasingly globalized. This phenomenon inspires me to envision a path in which this cycle of cultures can harmonize to a shared rhythm - together riding in the music of joy, anger and sadness.
I feel that what is most important is to give selflessly from a pure and truthful place in the heart. Generosity that seeks to be truly humble creates the capacity of experiencing life in a way that brings joy and fulfillment to the labyrinthine depth of the soul.

Cayung Siagian started his art journey with drawing - making black and white sketches. His journey to reach and understand the "art spirit" has led him to use finger painting in many of his most meaningful works. Touching the works directly, he feels the clearest and strongest feeling of ‘universal energy’ and he knows that his heart and soul has already accepted and merged that spiritual energy with his painting.
Of course, this method removes the interruption of a man-made tool in creating the images, and so the force of Cayung’s inspiration is powerfully expressed, and experienced from seeing his touch on the canvas. He wishes to remove all obstacles and interferences which may reduce the purity and strength of the artistic inspiration/energy which he channels into his works.
Cayung’s Toba-Batak heritage expresses itself strongly in his awareness of both the natural and spiritual worlds. In his paintings this visionary artist explores existential questions about the human condition. He also shows to us the natural world through his own unique view, which often transcends reality. The living forms of human being and tree are merged to become a new lifeform, or sometimes he shows us alien creatures and winged beings, of other worlds than ours.
Cayung is a self-taught artist who says that the best art teacher is natural experience, because there is no authority or discipline forcing or limiting the freedom of expression in art. His work is his personal journey . Through art, he is absorbing , interpreting and seeking the meaning of the deepest questions about the Universe and our place within it. Metaphysical enquiry is at the heart of his life-journey, with Music, Art and Natural Beauty as his companions.
