BayFM’s Multicultural Group Outside Broadcast at the Byron Bay Bluesfest delivered great live coverage during the festival, providing our community with an opportunity to have a real feel for the event.
Friday and Saturday saw our reporters talking with festival-goers, catching their real reactions and stories. We made sure to include many multicultural voices, which were included in between live interviews we hosted with an impressive lineup of artists, including:
- Pat Powell from Melbourne Ska Orchestra, known for their upbeat ska and reggae mix
- Cuban star Cimafunk, bringing his exciting Afro-Cuban funk fusion
- Rising Indigenous artist Miss Kaninna
- Dynamic Native American performer Nahko
We also had a chance to interview one of BayFM’s founders, Nancy Falcone, and The Multicultural Group’s leader, Judy Shelley.
Each interview went live without a hitch, adding to the festival’s great vibe.
We will soon turn the broadcast recordings into a podcast to share with our local community and beyond. The project’s success shows how well people responded and the positive feedback from everyone involved.
We’re pleased to say we’ have also put in an application for a CBAA award. Big thanks to all the artists, the Bluesfest team, our tech crew, and everyone who helped make this broadcast work so well.
