The Multikulcha Art Exhibition was the first ever to celebrate multiculturalism and highlight the work of multicultural artists and multicultural families. This exhibition was a vibrant expression of cultural diversity, bringing to the forefront the creative work of exciting, new and emerging artists. The exhibition provided a platform for diverse artists to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and contribute to a collective understanding of multicultural identities.
Through visual art, performance, and interactive activities, the exhibition highlighted the beauty, complexity, and resilience of cultural identities within the North Coast community.
Artists participating are: Dylan Bolt, Nigel Stewart, Isolde Kopping, Judy Shelley, Made Siki Astawa, Made Danti Coblyn, Jannisse Phillis, Rudiger Wasser and Helene Safajou.
The Exhibition opening was on on Friday 23 January at 5.30 with all the richness of music, dance, sounds and sights that multicultural arts could bring with live performances and refreshments available, followed by two days of viewing and cultural activities. Sunday afternoon at Coorabell Hall saw a feast of activities including Artist Talks, workshops, performances and the event was broadcast Live on Radio Latina at BayFm 99.9.
Performances included a wonderful array of local multicultural performers including Nigel Stewart – First Nations musician with Welcome to Country and music and singing as well as showing his visual art, Shiva Shimmer Squad with wonderful Bollywood dance and workshop, Mana Aloha Hula with Hawaiian dance , Fred Ramanzini sharing Brazilian dance workshop, Las Comadres got everyone dancing on Opening Night with their Latin vibes, Kobya Panguana shared African songs and music with a music jam afternoon.
