Hélène Teclemariam Safajou

New French Radio Show at BayFM Radio

Posted on 17/07/202530/05/2026 By Website Manager

Hélène Safajou, our BayFm French presenter will now be presenting “The French Hour” on the first and second Tuesdays of the month 1-2pm. Hélène had recently joined the Multicultural Nation Radio Team at BayFM, and as it turns out, the opportunity has now arisen for her to have her own show called “The French Hour for 2 weeks of the month starting in July 2026.

Hélène Teclemariam Safajou was born in Addis Abeba and grew up in a multicultural environment in Ethiopia, Kenya and France. She met her Persian Australian husband in Israel and has lived in Byron since 2004 where she has raised her children, had businesses, worked in translation and education.
Her experience in radio started at River FM in Lismore with the French program 4 years ago and she joined the vibrant Multicultural Nation team at BayFM during 2025. Hélène lives by the principle that the “earth is one country and mankind its citizens” and that we all have more in common than we think. Learning through friendship, music and conversations can help erase fear and ignorance.
Hélène lives in Byron Bay so she was happy to have the opportunity to join the team of multicultural presenters at BayFM. Helene is now the French presenter at BayFM and also continues with River Fm in Lismore.
Big thank you to Isolde Kopping who has departed Multicultural Nation Show as our German presenter, her support over the years has been absolutely fantastic and essential to the Multicultural Nation Show! However, you can still listen in to Isolde every Tuesday 8-10pm on her incredible “Beautiful Voices” radio show.re.
